About

Nearly twenty years ago, I met the Spanish writer Antonio Muñoz Molina, a visiting professor at NYU whose work would be subsequently shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. At Antonio’s request, I wrote a 35-page short story about my first year in New York (1979). Antonio praised my writing and urged me to continue, leading eventually to the novel OUT. For the past 30 years I've run a successful real estate business, but a long-term goal has been to become a career novelist. I have a second novel available for publication, a third in draft form, and more in development. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

ADVANCED PRAISE FOR OUT

"I absolutely loved your book. It flows beautifully, the dialogue is great and each character has his     or her own distinct voice. I love the way you see Clay grow and learn. And every so often there's a   line that makes me laugh out loud. Obviously, I was expecting it to be sad and it was, but in a well   balanced way; honest without being melodramatic.

"James, I truly couldn't put it down. It's funny, sad, touching, honest. Loved it."

Advanced Praise for The Adventures of Sally Langdon

"I loved this book. Truly great characters and so New York!! You write so visually. If it was made for TV, I would have breezed through season 1!!"
